It’s 1Malaysia again for Bagan Pinang as former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Mohd Isa bin Abdul Samad of BN won the Bagan Pinang state legislative assembly [N.31(N)] by-election. He received a whopping 8,013 votes against Zulkefly Mohd Omar of PAS who got 2,578 votes. What led to his landslide victory?
Most of Bagan Pinang folk remembered him during his days as Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar. It’s so obvious that older generation grows with BN, while younger ones are more inclined to Pakatan Rakyat, particularly since its takeover of 4 states in last year’s general election. His successor, Datuk Mohamad bin Hassan who happens to be Rantau assemblyman would be very proud of Isa’s victory.
So, with BN retained 2nd seat under Najib’s banner after Batang Ai state legislative assembly by-election in April, Najib & Co should find new strategies to recapture all 4 Pakatan-led states, including long-time Kelantan. Will BN REALLY be able to do it? Can AND will Isa retain his seat in the next general election? We’ll find out.
