Today marks the official revenue service of Singapore’s 4th Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line, Circle Line (CCL). It is the second fully-underground rail after SBS Transit‘s North East Line. This time, the line is operated by SMRT. Stage 3 of CCL comprises 5 stations, namely Marymount, Bishan Interchange (NSL), Lorong Chuan, Serangoon Interchange (NEL), and Bartley. There are 5 stages altogeher within the Circle Line. The entire CCL will be fully operational by Y2K11.
UPDATE: Stages 1 and 2 of CCL has been opened recently. The line starts from Dhoby Ghaut Interchange [CC1/NE6/NS24] to Tai Seng [CC11]. Other interchange station in the network is Paya Lebar [CC9] which serves as an interchange station to the East West Line [EW7]. Stadium [CC6] station will provide convenience to MRT commuters as it is situated around National Stadium area in Kallang. Final 2 stages will be completed sometime by next year [2K11].
