It worked! It really worked! After 10 by-elections, it is made clear that BN had won back the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat it lost in the 2008 general election. Its newly elected parliamentarian, P.Kamalanathan voted in a total of 24,997 votes with a majority of 1,725 votes. While his rival, PKR‘s Datuk Zaid Ibrahim got 23,272 votes.
What were the secrets behind BN’s victory in Hulu Selangor?
Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak celebrated his 1st year as Father of 1Malaysia by visiting the parliamentary constituency. The slogan “Love Selangor, Trust BN’ had motivated them to vote for the party that walks the talk. Of course, all promises during its campaign so far have been fulfilled. His presence during the results and new parliamentarian announcement made the victory possible. A good job well done, Datuk Seri!
But remember, it doesn’t stop here. BN must and should work even harder to maintain the Sibu parliamentary seat in the next by-election which is slated on May 16, which happens to be Malaysian Teacher’s Day. Will BN also retain Sarawak in the upcoming state legislative assembly election?
BN’s recapturing of the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat is just a tip of the iceberg. So now, the focus is the whole Selangor as well as other Pakatan-led states, namely Penang, Kedah, and long-time Kelantan. Will BN be able to do it in the next general election?
