Last year [In 2009], there were triple by-election. Now, the recent double by-election saw Barisan Nasional (BN) win both Galas state legislative assembly and Batu Sapi parliamentary constituencies.
After one time loss in the 12th general election, BN proved to the people of Galas [N45(D)] that they are THE [‘duh’] party “by the people, for the people”. Obviously, Galas is a state legislative constituency under the Gua Musang parliamentary constituency, which is held by none other than Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah aka CooLee [see his link on MyParliamentarianz]. Its newly proclaimed assemblyman, Ab Aziz Yusoff got a thumping 5,324 votes with a majority of 1,190 votes as opposed to PAS‘ Dr Zulkefli Mohamed, who managed to secure 4,134 votes.
The ever impending issue of oil royalty/wang ihsan remains on every Kelantanese’s mind. This should be the indicator to recapture the whole state from PAS in the next general election.
Moving on to Batu Sapi [P185]. Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin, widow of the late Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah garnered 6,359 votes. Former Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee of SAPP had voted 2,031, while PKR’s Ansari Abdullah got 3,414 votes. “I shall [NOT I will] carry on with my late hubby’s job as wakil rakyat here in Batu Sapi.
So, will BN really be able to retain and defend both seats in the next general election?
