Starting next year [2011 or 2K11], there is going to be a weekend of ‘BYOB [Bring your own Bag) for Shopping’ in Selangor as the Selangor Government is considering extending the ‘Plastic Bag-free Day’ from present Saturday to Sunday. This was wound up by Bukit Lanjan State Legislative Assemblywoman, Elizabeth Wong in a recent sitting of Selangor DUN. She said that when it was launched early this year, the state had saved 4 million plastic bags up to October this year. She then quoted Merdeka Center survey as saying that 80% of Selangoreans supported it (the campaign).
