Bon Voyage, Carrefour; Konichiwa, AEON BiG!

What happens when you put your sushi on a baguette? The result? A sweet Eurasian love affair. Japan-based superstore giant AEON (formerly known as JAYA JUSCO) has undertaken its biggest takeover exercise yet, acquiring France’s Carrefour (Kah-Foo).

Carrefour opened its doors in Malaysia with its very first outlet in Subang Jaya, back in 1994. It then grew from strength to strength with over 30 outlets nationwide. With its rebranding here as AEON BiG, there will now be 100 outlets on top of existing stores under the AEON banner. By early 2013, all ex-Carrefour stores will carry the new name, new store layout and so on.
