Kedah MB
“I’m Proud to Be a Kedahan!” says Kedah MB, Datuk Mukhriz bin Tun Mahathir

It looked like the Red Wave did not hit Kelantan, but instead, went to another “K’ (‘D’ for Kelantan by the way). After half a decade of  ‘dark moon’ under PAS, it’s finally clear. Barisan Nasional has regained Kedah, one of the four states it lost in the previous general election. Datuk Mukhriz bin Tun Mahathir, former deputy minsiter of international trade and industry has been sworn in as the 10th Menteri Besar of Kedah. He will be reporting for work at Wisma Darul Aman, the state’s administrative building, today.

What led to Mukhriz’s victory? His parents, of course. Fourth former prime minister of MalaysiaTun Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Md Ali badly wanted their fifth son to regain the 3rd state ruled by PAS after Kelantan and Terengganu. It’s possibly one of Tun Dr M’s many wishes before he leaves this world. Yes, as  Parents’ Days are celebrated in May and June respectively, Mukhriz will dedicate this victory to them. His persuasion for Kedahans abroad to vote for him as the state’s leader has also paid off.

Kedah has been regarded as the Land of the Rice Bowl, because of the paddy fields it boasts of. Besides that, it is home to Langkawi, Malaysia’s No.1 resort island. Now that Mukhriz has reconquered the state, his job is now to focus on transforming the whole state, including improving public transport in both urban and rural areas. Rapid Kedah, for example, will give its competitor, MARA Liner, CityLiner, HBR,  and other bus operators in the state a run for their money. Other outstanding issues such as the KUIN (Insaniah University College) saga will also be his priority.

So, anyway, congratulations to Najib for letting Kedahans do the right thing. Just like Pak Lah did Terengganu. His constutency’s electorate in Ayaq Hitam [N4(K)] will be proud of him.I hope this momentum will be maintained in the next general election.

[AL-FATIHAH to former PAS Kedah MB, Tan Sri Azizan Razak, who returned to the Rahmatullah peacefully on the 26th of September 2013.May Allah bless his soul. On the other hand, will Barisan through Mukhriz be able to redeem the Sungai Limau state assembly seat that the late Azizan was in? Or will PAS avenge the death of Azizan by defending the state seat?]
