For those of you who are in the balik ke kampung rush,it would be a sad bad news as uboth petrol grades of RON95 and RON97 go up today. RON95 up 10 sen from last month (June). RON 97, meanwhile, also goes up but with 20 sen difference. The diesel however, stays.
Almost all Perodua models can run on both RON95 and RON97, as the minimum octane is RON90. However, Proton’s earlier models, such as the 1st generation Saga, Satria, Wira, and even Suzuki Swift Sport will require minimum RON97. This is evident when you open that fuel tank cover door (see picture above).
Lastly, One important thing : DO NOT mix RON95 with RON97. Likewise, RON97 with RON95. This advice goes out particularly to the owners of older Protons.
