Toll Collection on East Coast Expressway 2 to Begin Today!

KAJANG: Toll collection on the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) will commence at 12.01am today. In a statement recently, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said the toll rate would start from 12 sen per kilometre for Class One vehicles. LPT2 will implement a closed toll collection system where the toll rate is calculated based on toll-able distance. The 184-kilometre highway which starts from Jabor, Pahang to Kampung Gemuroh, Terengganu is a two-way four lane highway consisting of 10 elevated intersections, three rest and service areas (RSAs) and two lay-bys. The government has appointed Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PLUS Malaysia Berhad to carry out the operations, maintenance and toll collection of LPT2. The collection of toll is crucial to cover the cost of maintenance and operation for patrol services, RSAs and other facilities to ensure the safety and comfort of highway users. There will be 10 toll plazas along the LPT2. They are: • Cheneh toll plaza • Chukai toll plaza • Kijal toll plaza • Kerteh toll plaza • Paka toll plaza • Kuala Dungun toll plaza • Bukit Besi toll plaza • Ajil toll plaza • Telemong toll plaza • Kuala Terengganu toll plaza
