Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur has 10 parliamentary constituencies, where majority of them are held by Pakatan Rakyat. Let’s start with Titiwangsa. PAS held the sole FT parliamentary constituency through its parliamentarian, Dr Lo’Lo’ Ghazali. She however, returned to the Rahmatullah (passed away) peacefully in 2011. While BN tries hard to regain the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat, PAS will avenge the peaceful passing of Titiwangsa parliamentarian to fish for votes. BN through MCA’s Nicole Wong Siaw Tng heading for first Seputeh parliamentary victory against DAP incumbent Teresa Kok, who crosses over and doubles up as Kinrara state assemblywoman. Lembah Pantai voters on the other hand are split between their incumbent PKR parliamentarian, Nurul ‘Izzah Dato’ Seri Anwar and Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister cum Lembah Pantai UMNO boss, Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin. The incumbent Lembah Pantai parliamentarian herself is surrounded by many scandals surrounding her and her father himself, PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. She was also lambasted by certain groups not long ago for murtad (apostasy) remark during her ceramah. While Lembah Pantai BN hopeful brings BN’s transformation around his constituency, ‘Izzah will do anything she can to defend herself and her seat. I think the BR1M should be THE [‘duh’] main factor why Anwar’s daughter should be evicted from Lembah Pantai, thus giving BN victory. PKR also has another seat, namely Batu which is being held by incumbent Tian Chua. The parliamentarian himself was found in a hot soup recently for his statements regarding the Sabah crisis. So, if BN’s Dominic Lau defeats Tian Chua this time, it will be a joy to the Batu constituents. Wangsa Maju was also PKR terittory through Wee Choo Keong, but he defected to become an independent parliamentarian, making him the only independent MP in FT of KL. The decision to field an UMNO candidate for Wangsa Maju should be respected and accepted by MCA, MiC, PPP, and Gerakan as well as other parties under the BN banner. Setiawangsa, however, is the only BN stronghold in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Will BN seek to defend other FT parliamentary constituencies of Putrajaya, Labuan, and Setiawangsa? Will Gelang Patah parliamentary constituents ever heed former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad‘s advice?
Another interesting fact though, two divas who were active in the 1980s will be contesting in the parliamentary seat on Pakatan Rakyat ticket. Wan Aishah Wan Ariffin aka Aishah in short, a one-time lead singer of NZ-based band, the Fan Club, a PAS candidate will take on former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar and former Bagan Pinang state legislative assemblyman, Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad for the Jempol parliamentary seat, while Tengku Intan Tengku Abdul Hamid, known by her stage name, Dayangku Intan, the PKR candidate will face incumbent Datuk Azalina Othman Said in Pengerang. With both constituents are divided by these two people, will constituents in those areas choose the ever familiar Barisan or Pakatan celebrity candidates? Another heartthrob, Masrun bin Tamsi, otherwise known by his moniker, Herman Tino, will stand in Tanjung Karang parliamentary constituency as an independent. On the other hand, blogger Papa Gomo, whose real name is Raja Abdullah Zawawi Samsudin, will challenge incumbent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Barisan’s Dr Mazlan Ismail in Permatang Pauh. If Anwar loses his Permatang Pauh seat this time, will it be Barisan’s or independent? As for Sibu and Kuala Terengganu, Barisan will redeem the seat it lost in the parliamentary by-election in 2008 and 2010, respectively. In Kuala Terengganu, the oldest candidate for XIII MyGE, Maimun Yusof or Tok Mun, who is at 94 years old will face BN’s Mohd Zuber Embong and Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Kamaruzaman. The PAS candidate used to be on the media spotlight. Most of us knew him of the issue of custody of his children vs his estranged Aussie wife, Jacqueline Gilespie two decades ago. While in Sibu, Najib’s first loss since becoming the PM will also seek redemption and revenge by fielding a much better and winnable Lau Lee Ming. DAP on the other hand, will be fielding Oscar Ling Chai Yew. Meanwhile, Narrawi Haron will be fielded as an independent candidate in the constituency instead.
In the XII MyGE, former ntv7 newscaster, Victor Gu was fielded by BN for state legislature seat of Damansara Utama, but lost to 1-term Dr Cheah Wing Yin from DAP, which also held other Kampung Tunku and Petaling Jaya Utara state legislature and parliamentary seats through Lau Weng San and Tony Pua Kim Wee. Both Kampung Tunku and Damansara Utama state legislative seats fall under the Petaling Jaya Utara parliamentary constituency. Chew Hoong Ling, a BN parliamentary candidate for Petaling Jaya Utara this XIII MyGE will take on Pua, making it the battle of the genders (NOT sexes). Lim Choon Kin will be re-contesting his Damansara Utama DUN seat against DAP’s Yeo Bee Yin. Sheah Kok Fah, Kampung Tunku BN candidate who lost to Lau in the XII MyGE will be fielded on the south side of PJ circles to face incumbent Hee Loy Sian from PKR and an independent candidate,Ibrahim Khatib. Bukit Gasing (N34-B), a state legislature constituency under the Petaling Jaya Selatan parliament constituency fell vacant after the death of its assemblyman, Edward Lee Poh Lin last year (2012). Will DAP avenge Lee’s death by fielding Rajiv Rishiyakaran as well as defend Bukit Gasing? Or, will BN seek to regain Bukit Gasing seat through Juan (NOT Huan) Sei Chang? Simon Lee, son of the late Bukit Gasing state assemblyman may OR will give Juan and Rajiv a run for their money if he wins the seat.
